There has been pressure applied on Congress by the Senior Citizens League (TSCL) as they look to bring in a one-off $1,400 Social Security stimulus payment for seniors, given that there is uncertainty in the United States as the country deals with a sharp rise in COVID-19 infections as a result of the Omicron variant, and this would act as a fourth stimulus check. "We've heard from thousands of them [seniors] who have exhausted their retirement savings," said TSCL Chairman, Rick Delaney. "Many have written to us that 'our government has forgotten about us'.
