Some people were sent stimulus payments based on their 2019 tax return. Circumstances may have changed, however. Income may be lower because of a job change or losing a job. Some families may have had a child. That change will be noticed by the IRS when they filed their 2020 taxes. The “plus-up” payments are intended to make up the difference between what they received based on the 2019 tax filing and what they are owed based on their 2020 tax filing. The child tax credit is one of the most well known credits after its expansion and advanced payments in 2021. Millions of families received 6 broken up payments of the first half of the child tax credit payments, and they can now claim the second half on their 2021 tax return. Children under age 6 can be claimed for $3,600 while children between the ages of 6 and 17 can be claimed for $3,000. The previous standard amount was $2,000. You may not have a felony drug conviction for the year you claim the credit. The saver’s credit used to be called the retirement savings contributions credit. Low to moderate income households can take advantage of this credit if they’re making contributions to their 401ks or IRAs. Finally, the child and dependent care credit has been boosted to as much as $8,000 in potential refunds. 👍 Comment below so I can answer all your questions 👍 Tyler Pratt
