Currently, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats are holding firm on their $3 trillion package (Heroes Act) and because of this the Republicans are struggling to negotiate anything. One thing I can tell you about the current state of stimulus negotiations is that things keep moving forward, however, this forward progress is so small that the two parties are still trillions of dollars away from reaching any kind of agreement. It is because of this that the odds of a stimulus package coming in the next week or so is very small. Right now the best bet the American people have is to get a smaller stimulus package passed that would include a second stimulus check, extended eviction ban, unemployment benefits, school funding, additional PPP funding, and possibly a small amount of state and local governments. If all of this could pass then it would allow Congress to work on the bigger stimulus package and not feel rushed to pass something that won’t help the American people or the economy in the long run. The last thing that I talk about in today’s stimulus update is how there is a new $2,000 hazard pay program through another state. I bring this to your attention because the more states that start to offer hazard pay, the more other states will follow along. Trust me, this is how it has worked for years and it is not about to stop now that we are in a pandemic. If you are not sure when stimulus payments will be coming to you, then you are not alone. Right now all I can tell you is that there are hopes that the 2nd stimulus check and unemployment benefits will come within a couple of weeks, but that too might be too soon.
