I like the order though because too many people rush into the Early Retirement FIRE movement without knowing why they want to retire early. They have no clue what retirement means to them and no long-term plan. That lack of a plan for early retirement first means they’re not motivated to make the hard decisions necessary to grow their wealth. Even if they are able to reach financial independence early, they soon find out it’s completely different than what they had in mind. For many, it means going back to work or starting a business to occupy their time. Besides sharing what financial freedom means to him, JD had an excellent perspective on the degrees of financial independence and how it’s a progression of less stress and more happiness.
